The objective is to develop a software tool for peptide modelling with regard to the capacity that a given protein/ peptide will bind to HLA-DQ2 or HLA-DQ8 molecules and will be recognised by T cells. As described in the EFSA guidance document, detailed knowledge is available indicating which amino acids in the gluten peptides are responsible for the high-affinity binding to HLA-DQ molecules and likely to mediate specific interaction with the T-cell receptor.
