Executive design, supply, installation (including existing building adaptation) of a grouting facility, for the conditioning of low-level solid radioactive wastes

JRC Ispra has started a decommissioning programme, lasting many years, concerning the old nuclear installations of the Ispra centre used in the past for research purposes. In the frame of this programme, JRC Ispra has decided to build a grouting facility dedicated to the conditioning of solid radioactive wastes.
This facility must perform the following operations: packaging the solid radioactive waste into a metallic container, handling the metallic container, storage of raw materials and preparation of grout, grout injection into the container, curing the grouted containers, cleansing the facility, handling the containers up to final controls position and to facility exit. The new grouting facility to be provided will be installed in existing buildings.
The grouting facility to be supplied has already been designed up to the level of detailed design (design documentation available only in English), including the modifications/refurbishing operations to be done in the existing buildings and in their relevant auxiliary systems.
The object of the contract will be the development of the executive design of the whole facility, the executions of modifications/refurbishing works in the existing buildings and in their relevant auxiliary systems, the supply and installation of all systems of the new grouting facility, the testing of facility and civil works, the final documentation of the 'as-built facility', the training to JRC Ispra operators, covering operations and maintenance; spare parts covering 2 years of operations and 10 years' warranty on works and 2 years' warranty on supply.
Works will be subject to the surveillance of the Italian authority for the control of installations related to use and/or storage and conditioning of radioactive materials, and shall comply with the Italian legislation concerning safety of workers. Works will be carried out in a controlled area; therefore the personnel involved shall be qualified as 'exposed workers'.
