In the frame of its Nuclear Decommissioning and Waste Management programme, the JRC Ispra has designed and qualified a final waste package (FWP) to be used for conditioning low-level and very low-level solid radioactive waste. The FWP is based on a prismatic container made of carbon steel, referred as ‘CP-5.2’ according to the UNI Italian standard. Since LMR has limited capabilities in processing and measuring radioactive and potentially radioactive samples, to satisfy the demand of radiochemical analyses from NDWDM services, it has been decided to outsource part of such analyses to a contractor.
