The user experience redesign of the EFSA website

European Food Safety Authority (EFSA)

The objectives of the contract resulting from the present procurement procedure are as follows:
Website strategy: user needs and site objectives:
โ€” to refocus EFSA's communications on its impact on consumer protection, animal health and environmental safety, as well as its key values and its risk assessment work,
โ€” to help make EFSA an EU hub and leading global reference and resource for scientific information on risks related to the food chain,
โ€” to obtain a clear understanding through user research of EFSA's audiences in order to address their specific needs in terms of level of interest, complexity, tone, language,
โ€” to identify opportunities and approaches for site integration with external platforms and social media.
User experience design:
โ€” the fundamental redesign of EFSA's website, including the 'EFSA Journal', in line with EFSA's strategic communications and corporate objectives and based on thorough user testing and research,
โ€” to review and redesign the EFSA website's current information architecture and structure, providing the necessary functional specifications for its implementation,
โ€” to provide a content strategy for EFSA's website to ensure content that is accessible and transparent, delivered in a tone of voice that is clear, understandable and meaningful to different users (with context and relevance),
โ€” to review and propose the visual redesign of the EFSA website taking account of the above objectives and EFSA's brand guidelines,
โ€” to review EFSA's current mix of formats and online tools and propose a strategic plan for their future innovative development, including creative solutions for visualising data and explaining scientific processes,
โ€” to provide guidelines for the website's integration with EFSA's other Web-based tools.
